Karl Rove slapped away a woman who tried to place him under citizen's arrest during an event in San Francisco, CA. The following is a press release from CODEPINK, who organized the bold act of civil obedience.

When Karl Rove took the stage at the Mortgage Bankers Association annual convention at the Moscone Center in San Francisco today, CODEPINK women in the audience staged a citizen's arrest of the former Bush Administration chief of staff, under California Code 837. This action follows on the heels of yesterday's appearance on stage of Medea Benjamin, co-founder of CODEPINK, who disrupted the convention to ask for a moratorium on foreclosures.

Janine Boneparth, 58, of Ross, CA, walked on the stage with handcuffs and placed a cuff on Rove's wrist before he yanked it away, while stating, "I have to make a citizens arrest. You are under arrest for treason."

At the same moment, Nancy Mancias, 38, of San Francisco, CA, held a banner in front of the stage that read, "Rove (hearts) torture, treason and fraud!" "Ladies and gentlemen, Karl Rove is not fit to address you today," Mancias said. "Karl Rove was involved in lying to the American people about the Iraq war."

The moderator responded by asking Sen. Mitchell and Rove, with a chuckle, who will win the World Series. After Rove talked about who in Congress is responsible for the economic crisis and who people should believe, Rae Abileah, 25, of Half Moon Bay, stood up. "Karl Rove, how can we believe you when you lied to get us into the war in Iraq?" Abileah said. "You are under arrest for contempt of Congress." Abileah held up a banner that read: "ARREST ROVE/ Lying about War/ Outing C.I.A. Agent/ Contempt of Congress/ Supporting Torture." Three security men tackled her and clasped their hands over her face. She broke free and repeated, "Rove is under arrest for treason."

A few minutes later, when Rove was talking about the war, Keiko Schnelle, 21, of Albany, and Blaine Clarke, 28, of San Francisco, stood up with a banner that said "Rove = War Criminal." "Karl Rove is the one misleading the American people," Clarke shouted. "Karl Rove is a war criminal. Arrest Karl Rove!"

Security then pushed Clarke to the ground and dragged her out along with Schnelle. All five CODEPINK women were escorted out of the building by police without charges. They asked police to assist with the future citizens arrest of Karl Rove.

Peace
So a Pawn got in position to take out a Bishop on her next move but the Knight took her out first?

That's what i got from the story.

Essentially, but I certainly wouldn't consider rent-a-cops to be in the realm of knights.
I just thought it was interesting to see Herr Rove's face. Quite the look of contempt on his face that some peon would have the nerve to try and touch him. I'd bet the security company is going to have some esplainin' to do.

Peace
These idiots that try to arrest these people dont get it, the security will stop them everytime because there is only like 1-5 of them, if they want to truely succeed(instead of just putting on a show) then they need 20, 30, or even 40 people to go to one of these places and do it, because the security on hand would not be able to stop that many and by the time more got there the people would have already been headed to the jail with their person.

In other words, these people lack coordination.
Well, I wish 40 or 50 of them had done a tap dance on him with teeny tiny pointy spike heels. Then tottered off to DC to help make it rat-free:

I stand by what I said, the whole point of what I said is that they need more people to do this sort of thing and if they dont go in there with enough people, they are just idiots putting on a show making a non-to-well heard point(just trying to get him isnt heard by many, actually getting him on the other hand...). They did seem semi coordinated, but what I meant by coordinaton was they only had 5 people there, not the number they needed.

A good example is a protest, are very many people going to take you seriously if you only have like 5 protesters or more like 30 or 40 in a group or better yet, even more then that.

The "trouble" with having 30-40 people is that "they/Rove n Rats" would NOTICE them and then CALL for back-up.

Here's the PLAN how the 4-5 would work..with cell phones, pagers. beepers, etc. You are essentially going to get the 4-5 foks close in, but before they move...they signal...we are go...then they group up to Rove the Rat and physically cuff him quick. See the latest "Law n Order" series pre-view spot starting Nov 7? She has that guy "cuffed n stuffed" in 2 seconds flat. Swordfight

Kudos for trying though... Worship

this was a totally unnecessary comment.
Gard, you open "yap" and fly off the handle in a litany of rhetoric quite often.

Bob has a point Tarius,
it is much easier to filter in 5 people than to squeeze in 30 at a situation like Rove was speaking in.
I agree that strategic planning could have been far better executed,
but the tough old ladies indeed showed determined guts, will and fortitude,
and deserve volumes of credit for standing up and being more man than most men.
The Code Pinkies will learn valuable tactical lessons from these actions and you can bet they will
organize more effectively as they adapt to operate more efficiently.

Also, they may have difficulty recruiting sufficient numbers of volunteers with guts to perform
unusual dissident actions.

obviously you know as little about Code Pink as Taurius. They've been one of the biggest consistent forces of ACTION against the anti-life regime and have plenty of volunteers who've protested as a group with some great strategies all throughout this 8 years of darkness.

And your perspective of me and/or my 'yap' means nothing to me.
How many people would it take to be successful, or make a "real" impression?

Unless someone is going to take an army and be willing to stage a coup, then any such approach would only be symbolic. These people are above they law - they know it and we know it.

I think it is a good protest. Better than standing in the crowd with a sign.
Sheep (Waters) 10:19
Sheep Rover

Harmlessly passing your time in the grassland away;
Only dimly aware of a certain unease in the air.
You better watch out,
There may be dogs about
I've looked over Jordan, and I have seen
Things are not what they seem.

What do you get for pretending the danger's not real.
Meek and obedient you follow the leader
Down well trodden corridors into the valley of steel.
What a surprise!
A look of terminal shock in your eyes.
Now things are really what they seem.
No, this is no bad dream.

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want
He makes me down to lie
Through pastures green He leadeth me the silent waters by.
With bright knives He releaseth my soul.
He maketh me to hang on hooks in high places.
He converteth me to lamb cutlets,
For lo, He hath great power, and great hunger.
When cometh the day we lowly ones,
Through quiet reflection, and great dedication
Master the art of karate,
Lo, we shall rise up,
And then we'll make the bugger's eyes water.

Bleating and babbling I fell on his neck with a scream.
Wave upon wave of demented avengers
March cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream.

Have you heard the news?
The dogs are dead!
You better stay home
And do as you're told.
Get out of the road if you want to grow old.

your resentment of men in general is etched in stone in your comment to Tarius.
He made an opinion that was not derogatory in any way,
and though his perspective may have been flawed in relation to the logistics of THIS particular operation,
his point on effectiveness of numbers is well placed.

now I will repeat what I said in support of the Code Pinkies which went right past you because I...

I think that if lots of old ladies just starting shooting the bastards, we'd run out of bastards before we ran out of old ladies.
I dont know anything about this particular group and my opinion comes from this particular case; my point about the numbers still stands though.

They may be strong activists and coordinated overall, but obviously that was not the case this time around and I suppose no one is perfect, but it does not look well either way when something doesnt happen very well.

However instead of, of taking a tone of some sort(I really dont know how to describe it) you could simply mention how/why I was mistaken in what I said.

I have met very few people like this, mabe 2 or 3 and they all took offense to various things quite easily, I tend to think of them more as very strong willed as opposed to resentful.

If your statement about 'met very few people like this..." is in reference to me-first of all I don't know what your gender is, secondly I've called you on your advocating for the devils before.

I have met many people like you present yourself as Taurius and truly consider them/you to be a part of the problem and certainly never to be part of any solution.

And I did address you in encouraging you to know what you're talking about in reference to Code Pink and their tactics of direct confrontations with true monsters at large-totally guarded and protected by the press and every other person who were present for that talk by Rove.

I could give you Code Pink's site so you could investigate the other side of that story but nahhhh

not 'idiots putting on a show'... I stand by my assertions that you are devil advocating. again.

perhaps you could read all those word things known as lyrics that Samurai took the trouble to post- the sheep won't get it that anything's wrong til the knives are at their throats. good luck with that Taurius.

PS-for the record I don't have 'resentments against men' in general. I have major issues with poseurs and the devils running my show.
I know a bunch of these (Code Pink) ladies personally
They are very well organized as evidenced by the proximity
with which they are able to approach their subjects during their actions..

They have handed "Pink Slips" to more politicians than I'd cared to count
have had several well placed members disrupt RNC conventions as delegates,
as well as this action..

Prior to the Iraq War (2) they were the only International Group with
offices in Iraq documenting the conditions prior to the Invasion..
They also are the only group who has ever escorted parents of troops
into the battlefield area to see their children..

Being publicly "stopped" and "arrested" in their actions is a given
It does not mean, in the least, that they have failed to make their point,
as evidenced by our continuing conversation here..

Saying they are "pawns" who got to close to a bishop and were
taken out by a knight is a poor analogy as well Imho,
They are more akin to the rook while castling..

They also are not all a bunch of crones
there is quite a number of maids and mothers as well among their numbers

Believe me they're everywhere!
This is a very good into by Medea Benjamin

Wow! Quite the quote! I still Applause this line by SJ before I did... Rofl

Trouble is...if we give we give ALL the "old ladies" their guns (like we are giving Afghan Tribal Chiefs Ak-47s)...who would they shoot?

I have ALL the respect for the CODE PINK group...I just think that to be more effective in PUBLIC (not in congressional hearings or RNC conventions where you would NOT be able to get away with something like they tried to do)...but ANY other event and with anybody WITHOUT Secret Service protections like Rove...my plan would and should work if done properly and quickly. Like I said...practise handcuffing someone struggling...it's NOT as easy as it looks or appears on TV.

I'm taking my wife tommorrow to Champlain NY to meet the fellow running against the House Rep I have now...hope he wins...will give him and staff slips of paper with my websites and ESPECIALLY about confronting McCain about his traitorous behavior in October 1966 when he was shot down and admitted in his own words.
