SNOW! AND LOTS OF IT! bent down to the ground fully leafed out trees-about 5" of it, I had to go to 4wd to get around my place this morning for my focused intention prayers to all the big trees bowing over with snow on their LEAVES.

it's melting off now as the warm day high of 36 is melting it off-we were under a snow hazard warning too-but thankfully the high winds didn't involve-it was snowing all morning-now it is SUNNNY!

and it was supposed to get down to 21 Tuesday morning but... it's changed to low 30s and all the blizzardy stuff predicted has gone down weather.com's own poop chute
Third year in a row that we've had big snow before the end of the second week of Oct.
One week of Indian summer.
87 degrees one friday, then ten days later highs in mid 50s and high 40s.
Crazy year.
We had a fabulous summer up to about 10 days ago.
Then the snow came fast in the mountains.
For days it was cold here.
Now the sun is back and it will be clear and sunny through the end of the week.
Cool but not bad nights,
wonderul days, and warm
perhaps this is the second coming of a late 2 week Indian summer here?
It would be nice, we never got a rainy enough mountain shroom season,
and now it is dry as a bone here,
and I have to keep the Shitake logs covered at night after a late watering
so the shrooms don't shrivel up.
....growing slow with cold dry nights.
Still in the low 90's here - UGH !!! and the humidity is a killer this week.

But we are getting your cold snap here by Friday and on Sat the high's will be in the 70's - WOO HOO !!! our first taste of Fall !!!

we had only about 3 months of summer/spring this year-rained hard with high winds until mid June-now this-today most of the snow is gone, still some on the rooftops-but it is still pretty cold out there. Frigid.

I heard the geese and sandhill cranes had already left here-usually it's hard to miss them, the sky will be full of honkers, back seat drivers and complainers flying overhead-I've seen them migrating at Halloween so it is pretty early.

I heard we're going to have a drier but colder winter this year. Since it was 21 this morning at 6, colder here really means colder.

I remember those nice 90/100 degree days without humidity-we had a few of them this summer but I didn't even have to turn on the fan for sleeping so not many of them.

Not global warming at all where I am-seems like winters are now---or cold weather and naked trees etc are all lasting longer-from October through June. So eight months of cold, wet or deep ... my down vest becomes a big part of who I am... I swear. :)
The colder weather I used to thrive on seems to cut deeper of late.
I'd like to see a few more rains before the snow comes to stay.
Snowing here as I left for work the other day, but it wasn't sticking. Got to work and it was snowing hard.
Three or four inches! Heavy wet stuff!
Gard is saving barnwood for me, and the wife and I are traveling to see her weekend after this.
I hope it's not covered with snow by the time we arrive?

Looking forward to seeing you lady!
Where I am, its still practically summer. Hardly any of the trees have started changing for fall. I am still wearing short sleeves too. Only had a couple days so far where I had to wear a light jacket in the morning and that was it.
Good for you Tarius
enjoy the weather!

We have sun tomorrow, and it is scheduled to be warm enough in the mountains.
I am heading up there to run while the trail is sunny and warm.
Hoping for a King Bolete where I am going.

I hope as well that the rains hit for a month before the snow does
down on the coast.
I tire of cold dry winters with that biting arctic air out of Canada.
The sunshine that comes with cold and clear is nice in winters like that,
but it is too cold.

We were forecast to have had big rains yesterday right during a good home game-cloudy then BIG SUN! alright! but rain last night, clear and gusty winds right now-

I'll pull out of the pile (and really really hope there's no skunks in there!) all the good stuff and bring it out front-there was a leak in my canal wall right below my huge pile of old wood so tromping around in wet slushy stuff isn't what I want anyone to do... I've been busting hump to do my last big cleanup of the year and tidy it up as what isn't done now has to be done in the spring and I've already got some good plans for early next year.

I should have brought you a truck load when I was down at Snake for a game. It was really HOT that week. 90s. Everyone was saying 'noooooo' last night all bundled up in our quilts and blankets. Great game! Kids almost won against the real big tuffies-this time no desperate refs calling every tug on the jerseys penalties and taking away touchdowns.

I could hear the kids this time 'talking' to the other team this time and asked my son what they say to the opposing teams-if they intimidate each other with words -hahahahah- he said one guy was saying to them 'we're going to kick your butts you rich bitches!' ... Our town suffers from low self esteem as being 'poor people'-kind of a weird thing to me. They had on the $200 receiver gloves-ours had either the Walmart specials for 14 unless they waited too long like me and had to cough up the $30 (really pushing it for gloves for kids in my opinion)... I'd say we're more 'frugal' than downright poor.
Song for a winter night by Gordon Lightfoot sung by a German choir-with lyrics-I'd like to hear our kids' choir do this one.

Dunno

We have to drive to Arkansas to our property to find Fall color since we don't get it here. The leaves just turn brown and eventually fall off - not cold enough for the sap to drop and leave the pretty colors.

Looks like the hummingbirds are gone for the winter. They stop over for about a month on their way south to Mexico and I put out a feeder for them. Oscen had one come right up to him and hover the other day - very cool!

The first cold front brought a big storm and half a tree from my neighbor's yard fell into our yard and is laying on the power line to our house. Didn't take out our power so the power company won't be by until Monday to take care of it. It isn't too far from my bee hives so I hope my bees don't bother them when they break our their chainsaws. I am glad I got my blue hive calmed down with the new queen! Last year after the hurricane Oscen was right near the other hive with a chainsaw cutting up half a tree that fell and they didn't bother him, so hopefully it will be ok.

We are still running our A/C because the humidity is so high *sigh* And next week it will be back into the low 90's. Summer is a long time leaving around these parts.........
