In 2013, the supermoon will occur on Sunday, 23 June. It will be be 356,991km from Earth , the closest the moon will be for the entirety of 2013. It's a great excuse to get out, take some photographs and experiment, as the moon may appear bigger and brighter than usual.

On the east coast of Australia, the moon will rise at 4.50pm AEST. The full moon will appear at 9.33pm AEST. For other areas in Australia and across the world, use this site to work out the appropriate time.
