RE: 3D MANDLEBROT - Vianova - 03-18-2019

My other computer with all my capability to do image programs just choked again.
It may be awhile to be able to post new images that are grid reconstructions.
Essentially leaves me paralyzed with any kind of image work.
Cannot even do simple text applications to do the number work on pyramids.
I am resisting Gimp, because my old image program is a really good one that I know really well.
I can still get in with Safe Mode,'
but it will not allow text applications, and the images are not coming in very well.
Bringing the old computer down there to see if they can remedy the problem.

RE: 3D MANDLEBROT - Vianova - 03-21-2019

here is local computer repair

I brought in the old computer to see if they could fix it.
The computer is in great shape -- it was the graphics card.
So they replaced the graphics card.
I got the computer back,
and they had installed a different port for the monitor.  Doh

So I went back in and they gave me an adapter.
Now the graphics card they put in is incompatible or defective,
because it stretches out the images
in essence,
a -- perfect circle of 500 by 500 pixels -- looks like an oval of 500 by 700 pixels,
so I cannot do any graphics.
The computer is back down there.

here is the problem --=-> young repair people are so used to seeing elongated flat screens,
such that they cannot tell the difference between a fucking circle Whip
and a fucking oval Scream

You should have seen the looks on their faces,
the last time they had to replace the graphics card on the used computer I bought from them.
they were astounded when I made them look at a -- perfect circle -- on google images,
and every circle in every image was an oval.

It will be a few more days ... hopefully they will supply a proper graphics card

RE: 3D MANDLEBROT - Kalter Rauch - 03-21-2019

I had something like that happen once...
with squashed images on  a Sansui TV.
It turned out to be a certain setting.
I imagine a video card could have a similar parameter.

RE: 3D MANDLEBROT - Vianova - 03-28-2019

I have my computer and image program back.
It still isn't right.
But it is better than it was, so before I bring it back to the computer repair, I will do some image work.
I tested graphics on easy stuff and just posted a couple of images in the president thread.
I will try a couple of fractals tomorrow and see if I can do them with what I have working here.

RE: 3D MANDLEBROT - Kalter Rauch - 03-28-2019

I see what you meant
after looking at your test images in the pres thread.
The youtube image is definitely the wrong aspect ratio (I think)
though it makes JS look even more prognathically perverse.

RE: 3D MANDLEBROT - Vianova - 03-29-2019

It will be difficult to make complex images for now,
so I tried a standard hexagonal replication.
I should have used a larger original image of yours,'
this one was too small for expressing detail.

One is close to true color, one is reverse color and altered a some in color

RE: 3D MANDLEBROT - Vianova - 04-05-2019

I would  have to have a 20,000 by 20,000 pixel grid to work that last one.
The one before it is workable on a smaller grid 5000 x 5000.
I am wondering what kind of computer,
and size of monitor screen I would have to get for a 20K x 20K grid.
The image program I use cannot work past 6000 x 6000.

RE: 3D MANDLEBROT - Kalter Rauch - 04-05-2019

What determines the grid size?

RE: 3D MANDLEBROT - Vianova - 04-06-2019

Quote:What determines the grid size?

"grid" may be a poor term.
It is simply the pixel count on the x and y axis.

a 5000 x 5000 grid is simply 5000 by 5000 pixel template of blank space,
that the image section is transferred on to.
The image section is manipulated into initial replication concepts,
then a splice template is made with a specific geometry in mind.
That looks like a tall triangle. ... pie slice ...
I have to hope it will fit in the 5000 by 5000 as the full geometry is constructed from the single splice,
or transfer all of that to a larger grid,
then the program begins to fail.

RE: 3D MANDLEBROT - Vianova - 04-10-2019

I made the initial image too small to develop into a large grid.
So I ended up with about a half size {2500 x 2500} octagon.
Resolution is lost somewhat in smaller starting images, so this one won't be as crisp as usual.
To make it larger I did this to it.

My excuse is that the web has been down for some days
because of outside wire problems all the way to the pole
where wasps and water had degraded some connections.
I've still got a problem with no headphone sound,
and it seems like the computer jack must be bad
since I can still get sound through the monitor......

Anyway the next images are a record of that time period...

Here is a good one.

around the blue orb like forms at the ends of the pentagonal arms.

RE: 3D MANDLEBROT - Kalter Rauch - 04-20-2019

As per your last...
would you able to deal with only the background
since it wouldn't have any definable axis of symmetry?

The Bulbox formula is a hybrid
which switches between AmazingBox and Sinebulb formulas
depending upon the length of a 3D vector
which is supplied by each iteration of the Octal.
I'm going to experiment with other formulas
that are based on Julia curves.
