2 Navy Airmen and an Object That ‘Accelerated Like Nothing I’ve Ever Seen’
#34
...
The distraction politics of these Pentagon releases are always multi faceted,
but on the immediate stage,
I imagine this all to be part of a larger media distraction,
timing itself to a possible confrontation with NK during the Winter Olympics.

All the old British videos are gone.
Looking through what is available today ... well, oh well.

But this old Austrian video is interesting.

This is what I call -- Ball Lightning Phenomena Whip
and
it definitely is a UFO as similar phenomena, I don't think this is a fake or manipulated video.

The news link also has still images magnified,
and I took those,
and trimmed them down for this image.
One orb moves towards the other,
they link up, and fly away

Maybe do not open -- the video -- at link -- there may be malware attached to it <---

the video won't open for me now ... it may be corrupted, that is unfortunate.

I went to another link ... that had the same old Austrian video,
and my computer was attacked by a porn malware warning and screen freeze,
I yanked everything out of the wall,
and got back on,
so all there is are the still images that I was able to lift off of the site.

What if objects are traveling thru 'The Veil' of dimensions?
In other words two objects passing in and out of our dimension.
One traveling at an extremely high rate of speed slips away into the far side of the Veil going straight away at the exact moment another enters our dimension at that exact same time and speed, but at a 90* angle to the one that has just disappeared.
It would appear to us the object had made a nearly impossible 90* turn.
Perhaps these objects have no real substance?

There is a great deal of speculation about captured UFOs...where is the proof except to say the Military has stepped in?

I believe there is something real going on, but what is the nature/reality of the beings behind it all?
Is it all a form of subterfuge? To what end?
So, the words Autumn and Fall are not to be capitalized?
They are in my world!

What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done; and there is nothing new under the sun.
Is there a thing of which it is said, "See, this is new?"It has been already, in the ages before us. Ecc 1: 9-10

You somewhat caught my drift.

The unfortunate part,
is when trying to track back down old or new UFO videos etc,
I am running into a juggernaut of problems at those internet links for the video's.
The last Russian site wouldn't let me out.
Video's at other sites have sudden problems or just simply malware.
A massive load of UFO videos on the net are infested with malware and all kinds of icky sticky bullshit.
It's an NSA sinkhole.

That pilot in the CNN interview was part of a PBS ten part series on one of the cruisers a few years ago.
He was certainly media ready for the CNN interview.

The guys in the pentagon UFO video ... do not sound like him ... maybe he was excited.

these two statements stick out:

Quote:"He gets close enough to see a couple of objects come out of the bottom
and then all of a sudden it takes off
and goes right off the side of the screen and, like, takes off," Fravor said.

Fravor explained.
"This was extremely abrupt, like a ping pong ball,
bouncing off a wall. It would hit and go the other way."

And,
those two videos are not the same UFO object

Patent talk: Making car pillars seem transparent explored by Toyota
August 17, 2017 by Nancy Owano, Tech Xplore

Credit: United States Application US20170227781
(Tech Xplore)—Big pillars may be a safety benefit for cars but what about driver visibility? "Since cars were first invented in 1886, the A-pillars have become wider, to help protect the cars in the instance of a crash. But this had made visibility for drivers more difficult," said Shivali Best in Daily Mail.

Toyota may have come up with a fine solution in the form of a patent filed last year and published earlier this month. Toyota has a cloaking device concept. The system being proposed would give the driver an unobstructed 360-degree view.
Pillars are the vertical or near-vertical supports of the window area. The A-pillars hold either side of the windshield in place.
The name of the patent is "Apparatuses and methods for making an object appear transparent." This involved the A-pillars on the sides of the windshield.
Let Andrew Krok in CNET explain: "Being able to see 'through' (it's more like 'around') the A-pillar without craning your neck every which way could greatly benefit pedestrian safety."
Erci Brandt, The Drive, said on Tuesday, "Cleverly placed mirrors can bend light around an object making it visible from the other side. So you're not really seeing through the pillars, you're seeing around them."
Interestingly, in March, Design News carried an article where Toyota's Minjuan Zhang demonstrated the invisibility cloak. Senior Technical Editor Charles Murray was looking at engineers working on auto industry projects and it had a photograph of Zhang. Such an "invisibility cloak" involved mirrors and polarizing lenses. "The technology builds on similar research by other scientists but also adds dimensions never seen previously." Murray said that "The end result is that viewers believe they are seeing right through visual obstructions."
Credit: United States Application US20170227781
So good idea? Reader comments on news stories about the patent filing appeared largely positive.
Meanwhile, Brandt in The Drive remarked that it was a "cheaper option than adding more cameras and screens all over the place."
Stephen Edelstein in Digital Trends weighed in too. "Just as cars have gotten harder to see out of, they have sprouted a dizzying array of backup cameras, park-assist systems, and other tech meant to keep drivers from running into things. These systems can be pretty effective, but simply being able to see where you are going is probably the best answer."
Could we ever expect this to materialize and if so, where?
It is unclear when, or if, Toyota plans to implement the system in its cars, said Daily Mail.
Brandt said, "The patent was filed with the U.S. patent office by Toyota North America, so if Toyota does go forward with this technology, we can probably expect to see it in cars in the U.S."

Microscale Plasma Devices (MPD)

Many defense electronics are susceptible to radiation and high temperatures. Developing electronics that can withstand harsh conditions would expand the types of environments in which DoD electronics may be used.

The DARPA Microscale Plasma Devices (MPD) program seeks to enable a revolutionary new class of electronics
and signal processing devices based on microscale plasma cavities
capable of withstanding damaging electromagnetic pulses (EMP)
and of operating in extreme temperature and radiation environments.
MPD will work to develop small feature size (< 20 micrometer) devices
for use in electronic protection systems for Defense applications.
Plasma devices sought should be capable of switching high-carrier densities (1018/cm³)
with speeds of 100ps or faster.
MPD seeks to develop dual- and multi-terminal devices and demonstrate them in circuits,
substrates and materials—highlighting the efficacy of the proposed approaches
as well as the unique benefits of microplasma-based systems.

This program includes two research objectives:

To advance fundamental understanding of microscale plasma science and device operations
for one or more key MPD design parameters, such as gas type or pressure.
To design, model and fabricate microscale plasmas devices
that target advances in specified performance objectives.
MPD also aims to develop modeling, simulation and design tools for rapid manufacturing of devices.

Quote:Wook - can you help here?
I recall you once said you served on Orion sub-chasers during your military career.  Does ball lightning in thunderstorms return radar images?  Can you remember ever seeing ball lightning or hearing about such returns and what they looked like?

Does ball lightning occur in "fleets" as recorded in the video?  Plausible possibly, but have multiple radar return "fleets" of ball lightning returns been documented before this event?
We had one ball of lightning (St Elmo's Fire ? ) go down the Electronics Aisle in a P-3B during a Flight
drove the instruments Nuts
my understanding was that it is a Static build up from P-3 flying though atmosphere .

Never heard of seeing Balls on Radar
clouds show up just fine .

I have seen a UFO on Radar
very interesting
on Mission over Sea of Japan
our Radar Scan covers 200 Miles out from Plane
object came from about 80 degrees and travel to near center of the radar screen in about 5 seconds (a WTF moment ? )
then the object made a Sharp turn to 170 degrees and disappear in about 5 seconds again
object was gone before I could report
nothing I know could go that fast or turn that sharply .

I have been lucky and have seen many UFO's in my travels
I have No doubt we are Not alone .

Most I have seen look like a Luminous Ball of Light (mirror like )
not static in appearance but glowing White
and can move very fast in different directions .

Been busy
will try to catch up with this thread .

Feathering the plasma nest: Tiny structures help prevent short circuits in plasma devices
December 21, 2017 by Raphael Rosen, Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory

Physicist Charles Swanson. Credit: Elle Starkman/PPPL Office of Communications
Physicists at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) have found a way to prevent plasma—the hot, charged state of matter composed of free electrons and atomic nuclei—from causing short circuits in machines such as spacecraft thrusters, radar amplifiers, and particle accelerators. In findings published online in the Journal of Applied Physics, Charles Swanson and Igor Kaganovich report that applying microscopic structures that resemble feathers and whiskers to the surfaces inside these machines keeps them operating at peak performance.

The physicists calculated that tiny fibers called "fractals," because they look the same when viewed at different scales, can trap electrons dislodged from the interior surfaces by other electrons zooming in from the plasma. Researchers refer to the dislodged surface electrons as "secondary electron emissions" (SEE); trapping them prevents such particles from causing electric current that interferes with the functions of machines.
Building on previous experiments
This work builds on previous experiments showing that surfaces with fibered textures can reduce the amount of secondary electron emission. Past research has indicated that surfaces with plain fibers called "velvet" that lack feather-like branches can prevent about 50 percent of the secondary electrons from escaping into the plasma. The velvet only traps half of such electrons, since if the electrons from the plasma strike the fibers at a shallow angle the secondary electrons can bounce away without obstruction.
"When we looked at velvet, we observed that it didn't suppress SEE from shallowly incident electrons well," Swanson said. "So we added another set of fibers to suppress the remaining secondary electrons and the fractal approach does appear to work nicely."
The new research shows that feathered fibers can capture secondary electrons produced by the electrons that approach from a shallow angle. As a result, the fractal fibers can reduce secondary electron emission by up to 80 percent.
Swanson and Kaganovich verified the findings by performing computer calculations that compared velvet and fractal feathered textures. "We numerically simulated the emission of secondary electrons, initializing many particles and allowing them to follow ballistic, straight-line trajectories until they interacted with the surface," Swanson said. "It was apparent that adding whiskers to the sides of the primary whiskers reduced the secondary electron yield dramatically."
Provisional patent
The two scientists now have a provisional patent on the feathered-texture technique. This research was funded by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research, and follows similar experimental work done at PPPL by other physicists. Specifically, Yevgeny Raitses, working at PPPL; Marlene Patino, a graduate student at the University of California, Los Angeles; and Angela Capece, a professor at the College of New Jersey, have in the past year published experimental findings on how secondary electron emission is affected by different wall materials and structures, based on research they did at PPPL.

I bet it drove the instruments nuts.

from Kalter's NYT link:

Quote:Mr. Elizondo Pimp
said there was a need for more serious attention,
to:
“the many accounts from the Navy and other services,
of unusual aerial systems interfering with military weapon platforms
 and displaying beyond-next-generation capabilities.”

He expressed his frustration with the limitations placed on the program,
telling Mr. Mattis that
“there remains a vital need to ascertain capability  Naughty
and intent of these phenomena,
for the benefit of the armed forces and the nation.”

" ... Unusual ... aerial systems ... interfering with military platforms ... Nonono

I don't buy this spin at all.
It is part of the multifaceted mass distraction.
This is about the money that can be generated from the whole video game.
It is total CIA psyop spin.
Why?
because Mr. Mondo Elizondo,
{in the quote above}
is hooking up with one of the worst sickosucko sociopatho mindfucks,
right out of his coffin in the old CIA mind control crypt Lol
-- CIA scientist,
Harold Puthoff and the old ESP experiments --

and another former Defense Department official, Christopher K. Mellon,
who was a deputy assistant secretary of defense for intelligence,

called

They are speaking publicly about their efforts,
as their venture aims to raise money for research into U.F.O.s.

Puthoff in the NYT article:

Quote:“We’re sort of in the position of what would happen
if you gave Leonardo da Vinci a garage-door opener,”
said Harold E. Puthoff,
an engineer who has conducted research on extrasensory perception for the C.I.A.
and later worked as a contractor for the program.

“First of all, he’d try to figure out what is this plastic stuff ...
He wouldn’t know anything about the electromagnetic signals involved or its function.”

Everything Putoff says is calculated phraseology steeped in deceptive motives.
If you gave Leonardo da Vinci a garage door opener,
he stands a damn good statistical chance of perceptually grasping what is there,
as he studies it with his intuition.
The difference is,
that Da Vinci does not get to see the garage door opener operate Nonono
but Puthoff and the CIA and that whole contingency,
watch all the UFO vidoes the military has available,
and have seen UFO materials in military safe storage,
and are consenting militarized entities,
to alien autopsies.

Da Vinci does not want to "raise funds" Nonono
he wants to make the garage door,
so that he can use the opener.

This bad dream team CIA financed mindfuck,
Harold Head Puthoff and Mr. Mondo Elizondo,
are part of another mass demographic analysis over this UFO develoment as well.
They will get ample financing.

As Puthoff skull fucked monkey brains in old CIA ESP experiments,
he now suddenly shows up in the middle of the UFO swamp gas,
full of ball lightning phenomena Rofl

I smell a huge Rat emerging from the CIA rabbit hole.

This is from the 2nd link...

"The funding went to Mr. Bigelow’s company, Bigelow Aerospace, which hired subcontractors and solicited research for the program.

Under Mr. Bigelow’s direction, the company modified buildings in Las Vegas for the storage of metal alloys and other materials that Mr. Elizondo and program contractors said had been recovered from unidentified aerial phenomena. Researchers also studied people who said they had experienced physical effects from encounters with the objects and examined them for any physiological changes. In addition, researchers spoke to military service members who had reported sightings of strange air

Then by Vianova's estimation the story about alien alloys, etc.
can be seen as bait in a weird sting operation out of X-Files.

AND they have Good ol' UFO Steven Greer in on the action for a % of profit.

No - if UFO are going to land they do NOT need $$$ for landing permit, nor for taking OFF like Elon Musk MUST do.

So...if I win Publishers Clearing House $$$ I'm going with Elon ... he's the REAL DEAL !!!

Frack all the rest who have ALREADY STOLEN more than $$$ 30 TRILLION DOLLARS from the DOD in the FIRST place.

And they ain't going to give US rides at ANY costs..PERIOD !!!

Whereas Elon is HONEST and WILL give you a ride around the Moon, and maybe allow me to go back to Mars where I belong.

Harold Puthoff and this gang of top hat DoD and CIA stooges,
plan on:
militarizing Whip
telepathy
technologies Whip
with
brain implant Whip
assisted
computer chip Whip
interface
technologies Hmm2

why?

the equation is simple,
the DoD research no doubt has concluded that these flying Balls of Confusion,
that zip about at ridiculous speeds and exhibit unusual behavior,
are
guided by -- brain - computer - interface technologies -- from afar.

That is the implied premise -- to warrant the psychofucking that Puthoff,
and some of the other sickos there,
plan on performing in experiments over time -- on monkeys -- and then human volunteers.

They will be looking for avid volunteers,
once the lab monkey's have all died from initial experiments.
These volunteers will be paid handsomely.
then Ms. Gilpin,
with her NIH background and funded study,
wil document the ---> traumatic brain injuriies <---
and examine,
and document UFO related health effects as well.

The reality is that any alien technology that may be controlling flight patterns,
and movements of these UFO's,
goes far beyond any -- brain - computer chip implant technologies.

think of it this way possibly -- in a fashion -- it needs a better explanation indeed,
{and that is coming with more info}
-- a complete biologic interface between "machine" -- and alien --
the "machine"
is a biosynthetic extension,
capable of manipulation by the "telepathic" instructions of ... Evil ET. Lol

Well Evil ET.  ... in this case,
probably could care less about humanity,
or dominating humanity.
They have a completely different agenda here.

Note that the pilot stated that the object underwater,
"looked like a downed airliner" underwater,
as the pseudo drone hoverd over the churning water.

If all this is extraterrestrial,
they have an ancient underwater base as one likely venue,
or they are interested in Earth oceanic lifeforms?

Dunno

Dr. Harold Puthoff wants to implant telepathy technology into volunteers brains.
The military wants this technology ASAP.

An enormous shit load of money is going to be made,
by all the former CIA and DoD spooks and their spook-city scientists in this new corporation.
and,
you can invest!
you can donate!
you can volunteer!

Four-dimensional physics in two dimensions

For the first time, physicists have built a two-dimensional experimental system that allows them to study the physical properties of materials that were theorized to exist only in four-dimensional space. An international team of researchers from Penn State, ETH Zurich in Switzerland, the University of Pittsburgh, and the Holon Institute of Technology in Israel have demonstrated that the behavior of particles of light can be made to match predictions about the four-dimensional version of the "quantum Hall effect"—a phenomenon that has been at the root of three Nobel Prizes in physics—in a two-dimensional array of "waveguides."

A paper describing the research appears January 4, 2018 in the journal Nature along with a paper from a separate group from Germany that shows that a similar mechanism can be used to make a gas of ultracold atoms exhibit four-dimensional quantum Hall physics as well.
"When it was theorized that the quantum Hall effect could be observed in four-dimensional space," said Mikael Rechtsman, assistant professor of physics and an author of the paper, "it was considered to be of purely theoretical interest because the real world consists of only three spatial dimensions; it was more or less a curiosity. But, we have now shown that four-dimensional quantum Hall physics can be emulated using photons—particles of light—flowing through an intricately structured piece of glass—a waveguide array."
When electric charge is sandwiched between two surfaces, the charge behaves effectively like a two-dimensional material. When that material is cooled down to near absolute-zero temperature and subjected to a strong magnetic field, the amount that it can conduct becomes "quantized"—fixed to a fundamental constant of nature and cannot change. "Quantization is striking because even if the material is 'messy'—that is, it has a lot of defects—this 'Hall conductance' remains exceedingly stable," said Rechtsman. "This robustness of electron flow—the quantum Hall effect—is universal and can be observed in many different materials under very different conditions."
This quantization of conductance, first described in two-dimensions, cannot be observed in an ordinary three-dimensional material, but in 2000, it was shown theoretically that a similar quantization could be observed in four spatial dimensions. To model this four-dimensional space, the researchers built waveguide arrays. Each waveguide is essentially a tube, which behaves like a wire for light. This "tube" is inscribed through high-quality glass using a powerful laser.
Many of these waveguides are inscribed closely spaced through a single piece of glass to form the array. The researchers used a recently-developed technique to encode "synthetic dimensions" into the positions of the waveguides. In other words, the complex patterns of the waveguide positions act as a manifestation of the higher-dimensional coordinates. By encoding two extra synthetic dimensions into the complex geometric structure of the waveguides, the researchers were able to model the two-dimensional system as having a total of four spatial dimensions. The researchers then measured how light flowed through the device and found that it behaved precisely according to the predictions of the four-dimensional quantum Hall effect.
"Our observations, taken together with the observations using ultracold atoms, provide the first demonstration of higher-dimensional quantum Hall physics," said Rechtsman. "But how can understanding and probing higher-dimensional physics have some relevance to science and technology in our three-dimensional world? There are a number of examples where this is the case. For example, 'quasicrystals'—metallic alloys that are crystalline but have no repeating units and are used to coat some non-stick pans—have been shown to have 'hidden dimensions:' their structures can be understood as projections from higher-dimensional space into the real, three-dimensional world. Furthermore, it is possible that higher-dimensional physics could be used as a design principle for novel photonic devices."

Leaving flatland – quantum Hall physics in 4-D
January 4, 2018 by Dr. Olivia Meyer-Streng, Max Planck Society

Figure 1: Illustration of a hypothetical device for studying the quantum Hall effect in 4-D systems. This 4-D sample is depicted by encoding the fourth dimension in the colour of a surface in three spatial dimensions with red depicting positive values and blue negative ones. Credit: LMU/MPQ

In literature, the potential existence of extra dimensions was discussed in Edwin Abbott's satirical novel "Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions" (1884), portraying the Victorian society in 19th century England as a hierarchical two-dimensional world, incapable of realizing its narrow-mindedness due to its lower-dimensional nature.

In physics, on the other hand, the possibility that our universe comprises more than three spatial dimensions was first proposed in the wake of Albert Einstein's theory of general relativity in the 1920s. Modern string theory – trying to reconcile Einstein's ideas with the laws of quantum mechanics – even postulates up to 10 dimensions.

In a completely different context, an international team of researchers led by Professor Immanuel Bloch (LMU/MPQ) and Professor Oded Zilberberg (ETH Zürich) has now demonstrated a way to observe physical phenomena proposed to exist in higher-dimensional systems in analogous real-world experiments. Using ultracold atoms trapped in a periodically modulated two-dimensional superlattice potential, the scientists could observe a dynamical version of a novel type of quantum Hall effect that is predicted to occur in four-dimensional systems.

The Hall effect occurs when charged particles move in a two-dimensional plane in the presence of a magnetic field. The magnetic field generates a Lorentz force, which deflects the particles in the direction orthogonal to their motion. This manifests in the appearance of a transverse Hall voltage. In 1980, Klaus von Klitzing made the remarkable discovery that at low temperatures and very strong magnetic fields this voltage can only take certain quantized values.
Moreover, these values are identical irrespective of the specific properties of the experimental sample. This astonishing fact was later shown to be related to the topology of the quantum mechanical wave functions describing the behaviour of electrons at such low energies – a seminal work for which David Thouless was awarded the Nobel prize in physics in 2016.
An important prerequisite for the quantum Hall effect turned out to be the two-dimensional geometry of the sample. It can be proven that in general such a phenomenon cannot take place in three-dimensional systems – as exemplified by the fact that the direction transverse to the velocity of the particles is not defined uniquely in three dimensions. Thus, it was believed that this effect is special to two dimensions.
Figure 2: 2-D topological charge pump in an optical superlattice. (a) A 2-D superlattice potential is created by interfering laser beams, forming an egg-carton-like "light crystal" in which the atoms are placed. (b) Modulating the potential along the horizontal x-axis periodically in time induces a motion of the atoms in the lattice. The fast motion along x is the equivalent of the 2-D quantum Hall effect, while a slow drift in the transverse y-direction reveals the existence of the 4-D quantum Hall effect. Credit: LMU/MPQ

Yet, 20 years after the initial discovery theoretical physicists postulated that a similar effect could also take place in four-dimensional systems, for which even more remarkable properties including a novel non-linear Hall current were predicted. For a long time, however, this proposal was mostly regarded as a mathematical curiosity – out of reach for actual experiments – despite its far-reaching implications. For example, both topological insulators and Weyl semimetals, two of the most prominent discoveries in condensed matter physics in recent years, can be derived from 4-D quantum Hall models.

In 2013, Oded Zilberberg and collaborators realized that key signatures of the 4-D quantum Hall effect should also be visible in special time-dependent systems in two dimensions, so-called topological charge pumps, which constitute a dynamical version of the higher-dimensional model. This insight generalized an idea, which also goes back to David Thouless. In 1983, Thouless showed that a quantized transport of particles can be generated by periodically modulating a 1D system and that this response is mathematically equivalent to the 2-D quantum Hall effect. Consequently, by combining two such systems in orthogonal directions, it should be possible to observe the non-linear Hall current predicted in 4-D.

This has now been achieved by the group of Immanuel Bloch. At first a cloud of atoms is cooled down close to absolute zero and placed in a 2-D optical lattice. Such an optical lattice is created by interference of retro-reflected laser beams of a certain wavelength along two orthogonal directions. The resulting potential resembles an egg-carton-like "crystal of light", in which the atoms can move. By adding another laser beam with a different wavelength in each direction, a so-called superlattice is created.
The researchers could implement the proposed 2-D topological charge pump by introducing a constant tiny angle between the beams of different wavelength along one axis while at the same time dynamically changing the shape of the potential in the orthogonal direction by slightly shifting the wavelength of the additional laser beam.
Quote:and can move very fast in different directions . -wook

When modulating the potential in time, the atoms predominantly move in the direction of the modulation and do so in a quantized way – the linear (i.e. 1D) response corresponding to the 2-D quantum Hall effect as predicted by Thouless. But in addition to this, the Munich team also observed a slight drift in the transverse direction, even though the lattice potential in this direction remains static throughout the experiment. This transverse motion is the equivalent of the non-linear Hall response – the essential feature of the 4-D Hall effect. By carefully monitoring and analyzing at which positions in the superlattice the atoms are located during this process, the scientists could furthermore demonstrate that this motion is quantized, thereby revealing the quantum nature of the Hall effect in 4-D.
The results have now been published in the journal Nature ("Exploring 4-D quantum Hall physics with a 2-D topological charge pump") together with complementary work by an American research team, which used photonic structures to study the intricate boundary phenomena that accompany this motion as a result of the 4-D quantum Hall effect.

Together, these papers provide the first experimental glimpse into the physics of higher-dimensional quantum Hall systems, which offer a number of fascinating future prospects. These include fundamental questions for our understanding of the universe like the interplay of quantum correlations and dimensionality, the generation of cosmic magnetic fields and quantum gravity, for which 4-D quantum Hall systems have been proposed as toy models.

Antimatter catches a wave: Accelerating positrons with plasma is a step toward smaller, cheaper particle colliders XLR8R'Z

August 26, 2015

Simulation of high-energy positron acceleration in an ionized gas, or plasma -- a new method that could help power next-generation particle colliders. The image shows the formation of a high-density plasma (green/orange color) around a positron beam moving from the bottom right to the top left. Plasma electrons pass by the positron beam on wave-like trajectories (lines) Credit: W. An/UCLA

A study led by researchers from the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory and the University of California, Los Angeles has demonstrated a new, efficient way to accelerate positrons, the antimatter opposites of electrons. The method may help boost the energy and shrink the size of future linear particle colliders - powerful accelerators that could be used to unravel the properties of nature's fundamental building blocks.

The scientists had previously shown that boosting the energy of charged particles by having them "surf" a wave of ionized gas, or plasma, works well for electrons. While this method by itself could lead to smaller accelerators, electrons are only half the equation for future colliders. Now the researchers have hit another milestone by applying the technique to positrons at SLAC's Facility for Advanced Accelerator Experimental Tests (FACET), a DOE Office of Science User Facility.
"Together with our previous achievement, the new study is a very important step toward making smaller, less expensive next-generation electron-positron colliders," said SLAC's Mark Hogan, co-author of the study published today in Nature. "FACET is the only place in the world where we can accelerate positrons and electrons with this method."

SLAC Director Chi-Chang Kao said, "Our researchers have played an instrumental role in advancing the field of plasma-based accelerators since the 1990s. The recent results are a major accomplishment for the lab, which continues to take accelerator science and technology to the next level."
Shrinking Particle Colliders
Researchers study matter's fundamental components and the forces between them by smashing highly energetic particle beams into one another. Collisions between electrons and positrons are especially appealing, because unlike the protons being collided at CERN's Large Hadron Collider - where the Higgs boson was discovered in 2012 - these particles aren't made of smaller constituent parts.
"These collisions are simpler and easier to study," said SLAC's Michael Peskin, a theoretical physicist not involved in the study. "Also, new, exotic particles would be produced at roughly the same rate as known particles; at the LHC they are a billion times more rare."

Future particle colliders will require highly efficient acceleration methods for both electrons and positrons. Plasma wakefield acceleration of both particle types, as shown in this simulation, could lead to smaller and more powerful colliders than today's machines. Credit: F. Tsung/W. An/UCLA/SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory

However, current technology to build electron-positron colliders for next-generation experiments would require accelerators that are tens of kilometers long. Plasma wakefield acceleration is one way researchers hope to build shorter, more economical accelerators.

Previous work showed that the method works efficiently for electrons: When one of FACET's tightly focused bundles of electrons enters an ionized gas, it creates a plasma "wake" that researchers use to accelerate a trailing second electron bunch.
Creating a Plasma Wake for Antimatter
For positrons - the other required particle ingredient for electron-positron colliders - plasma wakefield acceleration is much more challenging. In fact, many scientists believed that no matter where a trailing positron bunch was placed in a wake, it would lose its compact, focused shape or even slow down.
"Our key breakthrough was to find a new regime that lets us accelerate positrons in plasmas efficiently," said study co-author Chandrashekhar Joshi from UCLA.
Instead of using two separate particle bunches - one to create a wake and the other to surf it - the team discovered that a single positron bunch can interact with the plasma in such a way that the front of it generates a wake that both accelerates and focuses its trailing end. This occurs after the positrons have traveled about four inches through the plasma.

Computer simulations of the interaction of electrons (left, red areas) and positrons (right, red areas) with a plasma. The approximate locations of tightly packed bundles of particles, or bunches, are within the dashed lines. Left: For electrons, a drive bunch (on the right) generates a plasma wake (white area) on which a trailing electron bunch (on the left) gains energy. Right: For positrons, a single bunch can interact with the plasma in such a way that the front of the bunch generates a wake that accelerates the bunch tail. Credit: W. An/UCLA

"In this stable state, about 1 billion positrons gained 5 billion electronvolts of energy over a short distance of only 1.3 meters," said former SLAC researcher Sébastien Corde, the study's first author, who is now at the Ecole Polytechnique in France. "They also did so very efficiently and uniformly, resulting in an accelerated bunch with a well-defined energy."
Looking into the Future
All of these properties are important qualities for particle beams in accelerators. In the next step, the team will look to further improve their experiment.
"We performed simulations to understand how the stable state was created," said co-author Warren Mori of UCLA. "Based on this understanding, we can now use simulations to look for ways of exciting suitable wakes in an improved, more controlled way. This will lead to ideas for future experiments."
Although plasma-based particle colliders will not be built in the near future, the method could be used to upgrade existing accelerators much sooner.
"It's conceivable to boost the performance of linear accelerators by adding a very short plasma accelerator at the end," Corde said. "This would multiply the accelerator's energy without making the entire structure significantly longer."

Physicists Discover Inorganic Dust With Lifelike Qualities
Quote:The idea that particles of inorganic dust may take on a life of their own is nothing short of alien,
going beyond the silicon-based life forms favoured by some science fiction stories.

Now, an international team has discovered that under the right conditions,
particles of inorganic dust
can become organised into helical Hi  structures.

These structures can then interact with each other in ways
that are usually associated with organic compounds and life itself.

V.N. Tsytovich of the General Physics Institute, Russian Academy of Science, in Moscow,
working with colleagues there and at the Max-Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics in Garching, Germany
and the University of Sydney, Australia,
has studied the behaviour of complex mixtures of inorganic materials ---> in a plasma.

Plasma is essentially the fourth state of matter beyond solid, liquid and gas,
in which electrons are torn from atoms leaving behind a miasma of charged particles.

Until now, physicists assumed that there could be little organisation in such a cloud of particles.
However, Tsytovich and his colleagues demonstrated,
using a computer model of molecular dynamics,
that particles in a plasma
can undergo self-organization as electronic charges
become separated and the plasma becomes polarized.

This effect results in microscopic strands of solid particles that twist into corkscrew shapes,
or helical structures.
These helical strands are themselves electronically charged and are attracted to each other.

Quite bizarrely,
not only do these helical strands interact in a counterintuitive way in which like can attract like,
but they also undergo changes that are normally associated with biological molecules,
such as DNA and proteins,
say the researchers.

They can, for instance, divide, or bifurcate Jawdrop to form two copies of the original structure.

These new structures can also interact to induce changes in their neighbours
and they can even evolve into yet more structures as less stable ones break down,
leaving behind only the fittest structures in the plasma.

So, could helical clusters formed from interstellar dust be somehow alive?
"These complex, self-organized plasma structures exhibit all the necessary properties
to qualify them as candidates for inorganic living matter,"
says Tsytovich,
"they are autonomous, they reproduce and they evolve."

Damned

He adds that the plasma conditions needed to form these helical structures are common in outer space.

However, plasmas can also form under more down to earth conditions such as the point of a lightning strike.
The researchers hint that perhaps an inorganic form of life emerged on the primordial earth,
which then acted as the template for the more familiar organic molecules we know today.

Device creates negative mass—and a novel way to generate lasers
January 10, 2018, University of Rochester

In this optical microcavity, created by the lab of Nick Vamivakas, confined light interacts with an atomically thin semiconductor to create particles with negative mass. The device also presents “a way to generate laser light with an incrementally small amount of power,” says Vamivakas, an associate professor of quantum optics and quantum physics at Rochester’s Institute of Optics. Credit: Michael Osadciw/University of Rochester

Most objects react in predictable ways when force is applied to them—unless they have "negative mass." And then they react exactly opposite from what you would expect.

Now University of Rochester researchers have succeeded in creating particles with negative mass in an atomically thin semiconductor, by causing it to interact with confined light in an optical microcavity.

This alone is "interesting and exciting from a physics perspective," says Nick Vamivakas, an associate professor of quantum optics and quantum physics at Rochester's Institute of Optics. "But it also turns out the device we've created presents a way to generate laser light with an incrementally small amount of power."

The device, described in Nature Physics, consists of two mirrors that create an optical microcavity, which confines light at different colors of the spectrum depending on how the mirrors are spaced.

Researchers in Vamivakas' lab, including co-lead authors Sajal Dhara (now with the Indian Institute of Technology) and Ph.D. student Chitraleema Chakraborty, embedded an atomically thin molybdenum diselenide semiconductor in the microcavity.

The semiconductor was placed in such a way that its interaction with the confined light resulted in small particles from the semiconductor—called excitons—combining with photons from the confined light to form polaritons.

"By causing an exciton to give up some of its identity to a photon to create a polariton, we end up with an object that has a negative mass associated with it," Vamivakas explains.

‘Accelerated Like Nothing I’ve Ever Seen’

"That's kind of a mind-bending thing to think about, because if you try to push or pull it, it will go in the opposite direction from what your intuition would tell you."

Other research groups have been experimenting with similar devices, Vamivakas says, but this is the first device to produce particles with negative mass.

Though applications are "still down the road," Vamivakas adds, his lab will continue to explore:
  • How the device might serve as a substrate for producing lasers. "With the polaritons we've created with this device, the prescription for getting a laser to operate is completely different," Vamivakas says. "The system starts lasing at a much lower energy input" than traditional lasers now in use.
  • The physical implications of creating negative mass in the device. "We're dreaming up ways to apply pushes and pulls—maybe by applying an electrical field across the device—and then studying how these polaritons move around in the device under application of external force."

For the first time, researchers have experimentally observed light emission from individual graphene nanoribbons. They demonstrated that 7-atom-wide nanoribbons emit light at a high intensity that is comparable to bright light-emitting devices made from carbon nanotubes, and that the color can be tuned by adjusting the voltage. The findings may one day lead to the development of bright graphene-based light sources.

Doesn't the CIA already do this?

Quote:Sounds to me like they're wanting to torture some empaths into saucer pilots.
nothing new for guys like Puthoff

Empaths ... is one of the key words here.
So we will go on that tangent for now.
Human brain evolution is on pace with evolving physical brain advancements,
in the direction of clairvoyance and telepathy.
As humans begin to become more and more intuition guided,
{don't use fluoride that plugs up your pineal}
by the evolving clairvoyance and telepathy capacity in their brains,
it is akin to ...
low level psychedelic experience accumulating universal love consciousness experience.

When this happens ... EMPATHIC response and attributes develop as a response.

Our educations are what conditions us to not focus on our true capabilities,
but as each new generation of young humans are produced,
this process of brain evolution accelerates.

That does not compute in the world of futuristic military contingency planning.

No question, mutant minds are being born now with advanced psychic capacities.
Those young minds are dissuaded from that true reality by education and media manipulations.
In Asimov's Foundation it was The Mule that was the mutant,
but that was a development from the Dark Side of the human mind -- power and control.

You cannot have empathic response that comes with telepathic clairvoyance,
when your military personnel are involved in potential warfare.
So,
massive psychological conditioining via corporate industrial education of youth,
or religious guided fanaticism worked well for decades,
but it begins to slip away as the global population gains evolved perceptual intuitive insight.

Switching on the telepathy centers in the brain in CIA - DoD experiments,
means they also have to study Empathic response factors,
and those factors are ultimately meant to be misdirected or completely burnt out of those brains,.

It is akin again to working the Dark Side --- appealing to the desire for power within the user,
by supplying {implanting} intuitive, psychic and inductive brain processing advantage,
to restricted human volunteers at first,
but limits will be placed on all telepathy technology with:
manipulations by mechanical electronic implants,
and on a more advanced level -- biosynthetic implanted glands and such.

I remember cars that I rented in the past ... they had "governors" to control excessive speed.
No matter how hard you step on the gas pedal,
it would only go so fast.

That is what the military wants -- specified telepathic capabilities,
with implanted devices governing control over who,
and to what level the user can apply the capabilities.
That would be all the soldiers in the image Bob supplied.

From there as the technology develops and goes into the public domain,
the super rich will be the first to afford the brain "upgrades",
which will be less constricted by limitations on the technology.

From there black marketeering of the technologies,
will involve products that are FREE of the mind controls implanted into those technologies.

Alien technologies go far beyond the limitations projected by this CIA corporation.
This corporation wants to glamorize teleptahy into weaponized telepathy.
Video game videodrome "telepathic" technologies.

All that is just one facet of what they are planning,
and ferreting out all the ulterior motives will take some time.

One big part of all this is to conrtol the pace and scope of human brain evolutuion,
as new generations appear.

ya know, I bet I could pilot one a them there flying saucermajigees..
I bet you could too..

They're looking for saucer jockeys I hear...

as far as jacking me in?
nope I'd rather be offed...

I think their goal here might be more than just weaponized whatever for the good of being head monkey/man/machine tribe in the jungle..
They're looking for humanzee mk IV.
gotta have someone to pilot all this ufo tech we've been given or stolen, and besides, we'll need a space force to fight the Annunaki when they come back to take the gold this time.

they're going to be all they can be in the armies of the anti-christ himself,
after all, gotta have someone to fight off the return of Jesus or revelations won't come true..
On a satellite I ride. Nothing down below can hide.

Thatz the devil in the details.

like looking into a tomb to see schrodingers future ghost...

I think Gerald's intuit about time suppression is 40 days and nights ahead of itz time.

"Time supression" may not be the best description.
I pondered that again,
and they would literally have to open a wormhole string with a tether,
to the flying probes in a time manipulation.
Or the alien probes would just disappear from sight in a time travel manipulation,
rather than be seen by the pilots ascending out of sight in 2 seconds flat.
Standard physics,
is not advanced alien physics,
and in modern human physics now emerging from the dark ages of science,
time travel only occurs backwards in time.
I can see how one could construe that as well into a novel propulsion technology.
Maybe, but it seems more like microwave induced antigrav technology for the probes.
