Pictographic Cities and Landforms on Earth - Analogs to Geoglyphs on Mars?
#34
Plans for a bird-shaped museum in Sweden are underway. The museum will showcase a bird gallery of Jan-Erik’s rare collection of conserved birds.

This will be set in a building shaped like a snipe, measuring 58 metres between the tips of its wings. The building will host the gallery but also feature a restaurant, shop and facilities for groups to hold conferences and conventions.

Here is the "Lady of the North", a huge geoglyph in the shape of a reclining female figure constructed near Cramlington, Northumberland, northern England (2012).

Made of 1.5 million tonnes of earth, it is 112 feet high and 1,300 feet long, set in a 47 acre public park.

Note: Its breasts are nearly 100-feet high.

Large snow-glyphs are created in the beautiful Savoie Valley of France, overlooking Mont Blanc, by Simon Beck.

He walks over layers of fresh snow in special shoes to create mind-boggling geoglyphs in snow.

Recently discovered geoglyphs in the Nazca plateau of Peru seem to depict a beheading, according to Japanese researchers.

Scientists working at Yamagata University's research institute in Nazca said April 12 they believe the geoglyphs were created between 200 B.C. and 400 B.C.

That would make the drawings older than those of a hummingbird and a condor, the two best-known portrayals there.

A new bird geoglyph is revealed at Nazca.

[Image: article-2715588-203F1EC200000578-302_634x352.jpg]

The new lines were revealed following gales and sandstorms in the region and researchers believe this geoglyph shows a camelid (outlined left) above an unidentified bird (outlined right).

The discovery was made by pilot Eduardo Herrán Gómez de la Torre as he flew over the hills of El Ingenio Valley and Pampas de Jumana.

Nazca lines of Kazakhstan: More than 50 geoglyphs discovered

http://www.foxnews.com/science/2014/09/2...iscovered/

More than 50 geoglyphs with various shapes and sizes, including a massive swastika, have been discovered across northern Kazakhstan in Central Asia, say archaeologists.

These sprawling structures, mostly earthen mounds, create the type of landscape art most famously seen in the Nazca region of Peru.
